From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences expanding in power within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Revealing details for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.
The Warrior Group Revealed
The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the first table of heroes who will split off from the main group to begin their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Given 13 cast members, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at the same party would be impossible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.
What Defines the Combat Party
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for players who are drawn to a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.
At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might appear out of place, but the events of the third episode demonstrate why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
First, the team understands precisely where to go next after a intense opening clash with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose death started the campaign’s events—exploited the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The antagonist then settled his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each member has a individual motive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, wants vengeance.
- The adventurer knows the region and cautions that it is a nasty environment.
- The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to eliminate the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- Yet, their reputation as key figures in the powerful family could assist the team reach areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him anywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- Teor is marked for death by the family.
This leaves them little choice but to travel to Timmony in search of the antagonist.
